Sandhills Brewery – More than Beer
This is an odd one for me to review because there is so much alignment in this place for me… that it is uncanny.
I first attended Sandhills with Heidi (my wife) as part of the StartUp Hutch business networking night. It was here that I saw Pippin speak for the first time. He was talking about a measure on the ballot that would affect the way breweries and restaurants would sell alcohol. I had heard him mention WordPress but I was not aware of the depth of WordPress he used to be in.
As my family frequents Ax it Up Hutch across the street from the brewery, I get a chance to stop at the brewery after Ax throwing to quench my parchness. A couple of times, Pippin was there. By the way… Pippin in the owner.
Fast forward a couple of months and my good friend in the WordPress space tells me to be on the lookout for a WordPress celebrity in Kansas. He says “I think he owns a brewery?!?!”. I exclaim, “Are you talking about Pippin at Sandhills?”. It is then, Adam Silver begins to tell me about Pippin’s run in the WordPress Plugins market and how he sold out to Automotive.
This is the big league in my little space of the tech world.
Not long after all of this, I hear the latest interview on the WP-Minute… It’s an interview with Pippin.
So not only am I smitten with the quality of the Beer and Pizza on display here. Not only am I in love with all the dogs that visit this place. Not only is it a place where I can comfortably bring my 16-year-old son. It is a place that resonates with me on an interests and relationship level that cannot be beaten.
The vibe here is super-chill.
